Picture_16

This one is for the archives. Such a simple, stylish, idea.
Make Your Own Glass Menorah
What you need.
1.Gather eight clear bottles of one size and one slightly taller bottle.
2.Soak the bottles in warm water to remove the labels. (Use Goo Gone to
remove any stubborn areas.)
3.Cover the surface with spray paint, adding a second coat only if
necessary‹too much can result in cracking and peeling.
4.Insert taper candles into bottle openings, arrange with the taller bottle
in the center, and light each night.

Picture_33

Thinking of making these delicious looking edible Dreidels for Hanukkah.
Spray some clean kitchen shears with cooking spray and cut a big marshmallow
into a square. For the ones above, you attach a skewer and then dip the
sticky sides of the marshmallow into colored sprinkles. The tip is a
nonpareil chocolate. For more detailed instructions visit:

Oh Dreidel, Dreidel

Picture_42

This dreidel game is a new twist on the old dreidel game. The set comes in a
cotton travel bag filled with brightly colored wooden cubes of different
sizes and a dreidel. Instead of throwing the blocks into the middle, you
stack them on top of one another and the person who places the final cube
without toppling the pile, wins.

Old Time Sugar Cookies

Picture_10

Sugar Cookie Recipe

3 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs, or 4 egg yolks
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons sugar (for sprinkling)
1 or 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Sift half of the flour with the baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Cream together butter or shortening until light, gradually adding sugar;
beat until fluffy. On medium low speed, beat in eggs, milk, and vanilla.
Stir in flour/baking powder mixture.

Add enough of the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour to make a smooth dough that is
not too stiff. Do not add too much flour or the cookies will be heavy.

Chill dough for 1 hour or more.

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar with the cinnamon.

After dough is thoroughly chilled, roll out and cut into shapes using
cookies cutters dipped in flour.

Sprinkle with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.

Arrange 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets and bake in a preheated
400°F. oven for 9 or10 minutes, watching carefully near the end of baking.
